Hungarian driver Norbert Michelisz took today the victory at what has probably been the best race of the SEAT León Eurocup this season so far, offering three leader changes and spectacular recoveries. Michelisz clinched his third victory this year, strengthening his leadership in the Eurocup. The podium of the first race in Oschersleben was completed by Andrea Larini and rookie driver Petr Fulin.

Michelisz did not have a good start; a hit in the first lap set him back to fifth place, behind Matejovsky, Hatvani, Larini and Fulin. While he was starting his recovery, the surprise was provided by Hungarian driver Balint Hatvani, who did not only finish second in his second race in the class but also launched an attack and took the lead in the fourth lap.

In only three laps, Michelisz was able to overtake Larini and Matejovsky, starting a spectacular recovery that took him to the lead in round thirteen, taking advantage of a puncture that put an end to Hatvani’s display.

From that moment the race stabilised with only few changes during the last three laps. Freddy Barth and Jean Marie Clairet showed a nice duel as well, but were not able to get Fulin. Clairet took part in the Eurocup only one hour after participating in the WTCC qualifying.

The second race of the SEAT Leon Eurocup in Oschersleben will be staged tomorrow, starting at 16.00h.
