The SEAT León Eurocup held its third meeting of the year this weekend after the races held in Valencia and Brno.

The urban track in Oporto witnessed Swiss driver Freddy Barth and Hungarian driver Norbert Michelisz winning the respective races and it will be Michelisz who will take over from Diego Puyo as WTCC driver at the next round of the World Touring Car Championship on July 19th in the British Brands Hatch circuit.

The overall winner after combining the results of the two races of the weekend was actually Diego Puyo, but the Eurocup regulations establish that a driver cannot repeat the prize in the same season, so it was Michelisz who got the award.

It will be his second time since he already participated last year in the race in Japan at the wheel of a León WTCC.Both races had a clear winner.

In the first race, staged on Saturday, Barth, who started from pole, lead the race from start to finish, though closely followed by Pedalŕ, who finished second and Diego Puyo who was third.

It was a clean and incident-free race which also solved the draw at the top of the overall standings.

Puyo and Miguel Freitas from Portugal, racing in front of his crowd, offered the best battle of the race.

Michelisz dominance was somewhat clearer in the second race, which was held today.

He took the lead of the race from the start and kept it until the finish with an average gap of one second to his followers.

Tim Coronel followed him during the first laps, while Freddy Barth, winner on Saturday, was trying to recover positions in order to get the place for the WTCC race in Brands Hatch, but the Swiss driver had problems towards the end of the race and was only able to finish ninth.

Puyo was the protagonist of the last laps when he overtook Coronel, but despite trying to catch Michelisz, he finally had to settle for second.
